An easy 3 mile round trip hike at Ferris Lake Wild Forest just off of Route 10 south of Piseco Lake in the Town of Arietta in Hamilton County that includes some options.
The hike leads to a cool campsite on Good Luck Lake. After checking out the camp site, we took a short (but steep) climb up to the cliffs for a birds-eye view of the lake, vast forests and rolling hills to the south. This was definitely worth the trip, but realize this adds almost two miles and it’s certainly straight up and then straight down – very rooted and rocky.
The parking area is on the east side of Route 10, and the trailhead is across the street. The trail is well marked and easy to follow.
At the campsite there is a fire pit where we can cook some lunch at and even camp if we bring the gear.
We walked to the lake by following a short path across a stretch of bog to the water’s edge. This is a floating bog with noticeable bounce, we’ll have to jump on it to see the if the land ripples around us.
